How the Wind Chill Calculator works

This uses the North American wind chill index: 13.12 + 0.6215 T − 11.37 v^0.16 + 0.3965 T v^0.16, with T in °C and v in km/h. It is valid only for air temperatures of 10 °C or below and winds above 4.8 km/h, so other values show an error. Wind chill describes heat loss from bare skin. It does not change the actual air temperature, and it does not apply to wet clothing. Example: with Air temperature -5 °C and Wind speed 25 km/h, the result is Wind chill (feels like, °C) = -12.3; Wind chill (feels like, °F) = 9.8; Difference from air temperature (°C) = -7.3.
